What do we still need to know about Ixodes ricinus?

چکیده

In spite of many decades intensive research on Ixodes ricinus, the castor bean tick Europe, several important aspects its basic biology remain elusive, such as factors determining seasonal development, abundance and host specificity, importance water management. Additionally, there are more recent questions about geographical diversity genotypes phenotypes, role migratory birds in ecoepidemiology I. protective immune responses against particularly context vaccination, microbiome pathogen transmission. Without detailed knowledge these issues, it is difficult to assess likely effects changes climate biodiversity distribution activity, predict potential risks arising from new established populations ricinus-borne pathogens, improve prevention control measures. This review aims discuss most outstanding backdrop current state this species.

Anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy: what do we know and what do we still need to know?

Anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (AION) is the most frequent cause of unilateral papillary edema in patients over 45 years of age. Two main entities can be differentiated in AION: the non-arteritic form (NAION) which constitutes 96% of cases and has an estimated incidence in the USA of 2.3– 10.2 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants1; and the arteritic form (AAION), considered to be an additio...

.VO2max: what do we know, and what do we still need to know?

Maximal oxygen uptake (.VO(2,max)) is a physiological characteristic bounded by the parametric limits of the Fick equation: (left ventricular (LV) end-diastolic volume--LV end-systolic volume) x heart rate x arterio-venous oxygen difference. 'Classical' views of .VO(2,max) emphasize its critical dependence on convective oxygen transport to working skeletal muscle, and recent data are dispositiv...

Molecular approaches to diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis what we know and what we do not know.

Invasive aspergillosis (IA) are a major complication in immunocompromized patients where can be serious and rapidly fatal. Early diagnosis and early appropriate antifungal treatment is important in reducing mortality and morbidity. But despite many efforts to develop detection methods, the diagnosis of IA still remains challenging and current conventional methods are limited for adequate diagno...
